The 11th Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar, co-hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU), China Society for Southeast Asian Studies (CSSAS), National Research Council Thailand (NRCT) and Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, opened on December 1. The seminar will be held in two venues, Xiamen, China and Bangkok, Thailand, which are connected via cloud conferencing.
This year marks the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the 10th anniversary of the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic partnership. The seminar, themed at “Chinese-Thai Relations in a Changing World: Opportunities and Future”, focuses on the core issues of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future to provide intellectual support for deepening the bilateral cooperation.
During the two-day seminar, experts and scholars from 30 renowned universities, think tanks, government agencies, social organizations and military of China and Thailand will conduct in-depth discussions on six topics, including “the Belt and Road and People-to-People Bonds”, “Social Development of Overseas Chinese in Thailand”, “Investment and Digital Economy”, “Science Technology and Innovation Cooperation”, “Once-in-a-century Global Changes and Thai-Chinese Relations” and “Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and RCEP”.
The annual Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar is a landmark achievement of the comprehensive cooperation among HQU, NRCT, Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association and CSSAS. Since its launch in 2012, the high-end exchange platform for Chinese and Thai scholars, politicians and think tanks has received extensive attention from both the countries.
