On November 12, the 6thChina-Malaysia International Seminar on “the Belt and Road: Maritime Silk Road”, co-hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU) and Southern University College (SUC) of Malaysia, was held in the Wang Yuanxing International Convention Center of HQU in a hybrid way. President Wu Jianping of HQU and President Teh Geok Bee of SUC attended the opening ceremony.
More than 20 experts, scholars and business elites gathered together for in-depth discussions on the theme of “the Belt and Road and Southeast Asia: Cooperation, Development and Win-win”. The invited attendees come from universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises, including Southern University College, Han Culture Center Malaysia, Mayapada Group, Huaqiao University, National Institute of International Strategy Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and Central China Normal University.
Experts and scholars from the two countries shared their insights during panel discussions that addressed topics on the B&R and China-Malaysia cooperation and development, the B&R and China-Malaysia cultural exchanges, China and ASEAN trade and investment cooperation, and Overseas Chinese and the B&R.
HQU and SUC have jointly held MSR seminars on a regular basis since 2016 to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia and boost the development of “21stCentury Maritime Silk Road”. The seminars are held annually at the two universities in turn, with in-depth discussions on China-Malaysia relations, cooperation, strategies and other issues, exerting far and wide influence on both countries.
