On October 18, a workshop hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and held by Huaqiao University for overseas Chinese teachers was launched online. More than 180 Chinese teachers from 30 countries including Thailand, Brunei, Mongolia, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Argentina and Canada gathered online to improve teaching skills and teacher quality.

Centered around the themes of “Elements of Chinese Language Teaching”, “Teaching Skills”, “Teacher Quality Improvement” and “Knowledge of Chinese Culture”, the 18-day workshop is structured, informative and selective.Besides the skill-based courses aiming to enhance interactive teaching, design better presentations and make teaching videos, the workshop also includes courses of humanity quality, such as emotion regulation and traditional Chinese medicine health care. Principals from distinguished middle schools in China will be invited to share their understanding of exemplary teachers, demonstrating teaching skills and teacher quality from multiple perspectives. For the convenience of Chinese language teachers across time zones, the webinar provides video playbacks as well as live events.

The workshop aims to address the new requirements and the new challenges of Chinese language and culture education facing overseas Chinese teachers. Through updating the education concept of these teachers, enriching teaching methods, and improving teacher quality as well as teaching quality and teaching level, the workshop will provide guidance for the overall development of overseas Chinese teachers from theory to practice.
