Introduction to International School

1. Overview

 

Established in 2010, the International School is a teaching and research institute that implements English-medium curriculums and cultivates internationalized elites and talents. As a platform for test and demonstration, the School is committed to cultivating internationalized elites and talents that possess global visions, mastery of international regulations and rules and the ability to engage in international affairs.

 

The School has set up the International Business Department, the International Finance Department and the International Accounting Department. It provides three English-medium programs: International Business, Financial Management (ACCA) and Finance (CFA). We have also launched two Sino-American 121 Dual Degree Programs in fields of business administration and economics. The number of students in 21 classes is 800 (approximate).

 

Ever since the School was established, it has been focusing on internationalization. Keeping to the goal of cultivating internationalized elites and talents, we insist on delivering English-medium curriculums, integrating high-quality educational resources, creating a high-end platform for cooperation and launching exchange programs with elite universities. We have built four distinctive pathways for cultivating internationalized elites and talents: Sino-American 121 Dual Degree Program, ACCA/CFA International Professional Qualification Certification, Sino-UK 3+1 Bachelor and Master Degree Program and Pan-China Order-based Talent Training. The School has set up an education system of one leadership, two wings support, five Is companions (I learning, I communication, I innovation, I service, and I alumni), aiming to create an internationalized academic environment with characteristics of excellence, openness, inclusion, and responsibility.

 

Approximately 60% of International Business (English-medium Education) programs have matriculated at world-renowned universities for postgraduate studies. The number of participants and outstanding graduates of the Sino-American Cooperation on Higher Education and Professional Development 121 Dual Degree Programs have ranked first for six consecutive years in China. The pass rate of Accounting (ACCA) majors in their first national ACCA computer-based exam is 100%, while that of Finance (CFA) majors in their first global CFA exam reaches 81% (the global average pass rate is 41%).

 

2. Education Features

Outstanding Staff: The School chooses and hires teachers who are capable of delivering lessons in English, holds professional curriculum development and teaching seminars and provides the teaching staff with an ability improvement & training system to improve their ability to implement English-medium education.

 

High-end Cooperation Platform: The School cooperates with the China Center for International Educational Exchange (CCIEE, affiliated to the Ministry of Education), United Kingdom Education Center (UKEC) and Golden Education to build a high-end platform for learning and communication.

 

Rich Project Experience: The School enjoys the priority to participate in various exchange projects, including joint training, student exchange, vacation study and research and language skills improvement.

 

3. Discipline Description

 

(1) Finance (CFA English-medium)

 

The discipline is categorized into economics and is an applied discipline based on finance and economics. Based on the national standard for quality teaching and the professional development of finance disciplines at the first-class undergraduate discipline development site in Fujian Province, the discipline introduces the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) international professional qualification certification knowledge system, which is highly recognized by the international financial sphere, and the Sino-American 121 Dual Degree Program. The discipline aims to improve the internationalization of students expertise, skills and ethics, whilst strengthening their ability to engage in international financial analysis and innovation. Based on the strategy of building a school for Overseas Chinese Students and with an international reputation, the program adopts English as the teaching medium in all courses except for some general courses. It follows the training mechanism of specialist knowledge-practicum-innovation competition-internship to cultivate top-notch talents with economic and financial theories, analytical skills, global vision, awareness of international rules and the ability to participate in international communication and global governance.

 

(2)International Business (English-medium)

 

The discipline is categorized into business administration. The program is among the first group of programs that teach in English. It started to enroll overseas students, especially those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions as well as from Southeastern countries along the Belt and Road in 2013. It focuses on the operation management and business activities of international companies, aiming to cultivate students international communication competencies and innovation and entrepreneurship abilities. All courses are delivered in English except for some general courses based on the strategy of building a school for Overseas Chinese Students and with an international reputation. It adopts the training mechanism of specialist knowledge-practicum-innovation competition-internship, whilst proffering an opportunity to undertake overseas exchange and study for one semester overseas in 3+1 or 3+1+1 Bachelor and Master Degree Programs at renowned overseas universities. It strives to cultivate top-notch innovative and interdisciplinary talents with global vision, awareness of international rules and the ability to participate in international communication and global governance.

 

(3)Financial Management (ACCA English-medium)

 

Financial Management is a first-class undergraduate discipline development site in Fujian Province. It caters to the development needs of China and sticks to the strategy of building a school for Overseas Chinese Students and with an international reputation. Based on the national standard for quality teaching, the program introduces the ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a well-recognized certificate in the sphere of accounting and finance) international professional qualification certification knowledge system and the Sino-American 121 Dual Degree Program to enable students to acquire both professional certificates and academic degrees upon graduation. The program strives to improve the internationalization of students expertise, skills and ethics, whilst strengthening their ability to engage in international professional practice and innovation. It adopts the training mechanism of specialist knowledge-practicum-innovation competition-internship to cultivate high-quality talents with sound technical skills and deep knowledge of international accounting standards.
