A few days ago, General Prawit Wongsuwan, Thai Deputy Prime Minister, met 33 student representatives of the 17th HQU Foreign Government Officials’ Chinese Language Class at the Prime Minister's Office Building.

General Prawit praised the friendship and cooperation between HQU and Thai-Chinese Cultural and Economy Association in educational exchanges over the years and expressed his appreciation to the students for their efforts in the work of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting. He encouraged the students to keep practicing Chinese language skills and learn more about China’s cultural and social development, so as to make important contributions to the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future and sound development of China-Thailand relations.

Nikom Wairatpanij, Former President of the Senate of the National Assembly of Thailand and Vice President of the Thai-China Cultural and Economy Association, led a delegation to the meeting. He said that HQU has provided 17 Chinese language training sessions for foreign government officials since 2005 with the support of the governments of China and Thailand, training 981 high-end Thai officials who reach advanced fluency in Chinese language. These officials give full play to their role as bridges of communication and bonds of friendship and cooperation between China and Thailand.

A total of 132 students from five countries, including Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines, enrolled for the courses in the 17th Foreign Government Officials’ Chinese Language Class. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, HQU will keep offering classes online.
