On Sep 20, HQU delegation led by Xu Xipeng, HQU Party Committee Secretary visited University of Macau (UM) and Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST), and met with UM Rector Song Yonghua , and MUST president, Joseph Hun-wei LEE. The two sides had constructive and helpful exchanges on substantive cooperation including promoting inter-school research collaborations and joint degrees programs. The heads from the Graduate School, the Office of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Affairs, the College of Continuing Education, the College of Fine Arts, and the Macao Liaison Office of HQU attended the meeting.

The delegation visited three state key laboratories including Internet of Things for Smart City, Microelectronics, and Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, as well as the Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences and the Centre for Data Sciences of MU. It also had in-depth exchanges with Graduate Schools, Centre for Continuing Education, Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Faculty of Humanities and Arts of the two universities.

Since HQU renewed the exchange and cooperation agreements with UM and MUST in 2021, remarkable results have been yielded in the intercollegiate cooperation in teaching and research in materials science, architecture, journalism and communication as well as student exchange. In the spring semester 2022, HQU sent 7 students to UM and MUST, and UM had one at HQU. In the fall semester, 3 HQU students study at UM and MUST, and 11 HQUgraduates have been admitted to master’s programs at MUST.
