The graduation ceremony of the 13th Foreign Government Officials' Chinese Class was held July 4th on Xiamen campus of Huaqiao University. 125 foreign government officials from six countries --- Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia, Suriname and Angola, graduated after fulfilling their one-year study in HQU, China.
As a key project of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Foreign Government Officials Chinese Class is not only an important platform for HQU to promote Chinese education and Chinese culture, but a critical bridge for international exchange and cooperation. The class has, for 13 consecutive years since 2005, cultivated more than 800 outstanding talents who have mastered Chinese from eight countries including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Suriname and Angola. With more and more students coming from countries along the Belt and Road route, the project has gained a growing global influence.
The teaching was conducted in small classes, with compulsory courses including Chinese listening, speaking and reading, along with cultural courses and lectures of Chinese traditional music, dance, martial arts, painting, folk handicrafts, etc. In addition, visits were organized to intelligent manufacture and ecological agriculture in Jinjiang, Xiamen and Zhangzhou, and an exchange with policemen in Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau was also arranged.
