With the theme of “See the World Through Chinese Idioms”, Fujian interview team visited Huaqiao University (HQU) and engaged in profound exchanges with international students on the afternoon of December 6. Guided by the Cyber Communication Bureau of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Office of Fujian Provincial Party Committee Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the event is hosted by Huanqiu Network and supported by the China Internet Development Foundation (CIDF) and China Railway Nanchang Group Co., Ltd.. In the form of experiential interviews, the team learned about the remarkable achievements made by Fujian in the past decade under the Belt and Road Initiative, with an aim to explain and disseminate the significance of the Chinese path to modernization and enhance the international community’s recognition of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The exchange meeting was held in Jinchuan Student Center. The interview team was briefed on HQU international students’ practices from four aspects including knowing culture, cultivating cultural empathy, promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and building cultural brands. International students from Uzbekistan, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and other countries shared their experiences in learning Chinese language, inheriting and spreading the 24 Festive Drums culture, participating in the Chinese culture dissemination and practical activities of  “Pursuing Dreams on Maritime Silk Road”. Among them, there are multilingual experts engaging in the promotion of Chinese culture, excellent volunteers actively participating in social practice and volunteer services, brilliant drummers striving to combine foreign culture with Chinese culture for new ideas, and future teachers immersed in Chinese literature.

During the visit, the interview team also enjoyed the dragon and lion dance, diabolo performance, and 24 Festive Drums performance presented by HQU international students, and communicated closely with these performers.

Li Tingzhi, the Standing Committee Member of the CPC HQU Committee and Minister of HQU Publicity Department, Zhai Yafei, Director of the Commentary Department of Huanqiu Network, and Yang Lu, Chief Editor of Huanqiu Network attended the event.

“We are impressed not only by the infinite youth and vitality of HQUers, but also by the charm of Chinese culture among the international youth. ”Zhai Yafei said that she was very glad to visit HQU and have close exchanges with these outstanding young international students to spark mutual inspirations. She also mentioned that the vigor and sense of responsibility of the youth will bring more energy and vitality to the interview team.
