Tourism Resources

Situated on the southeast coast of the Chinese Mainland, Fujian is the only province whose name bears the Chinese character Fu, which means fortune in Chinese. With a forest cover rate of 65.95%, the highest in China, green is the predominant color in Fujian. Its coast line, being 3,752 km long, ranks second and hot spring resource ranks third respectively in China. It delivers and maintains a high quality living environment with great water, air, and ecological conditions.

Fujian boasts rich and colorful tourism resources with numerous places of interest, which can be summed up in three figures, i.e., three, two and nine. Three refers to three world heritage sites, i.e., the Wuyi Mountains (a world natural and cultural heritage site), Fujian Tulou (a world cultural heritage site), and Taining Danxia landscape (a world natural heritage site). Two refers to two Global Geoparks in Ningde and Taining. Nine refers to nine kinds of unique resources, i.e., ecology, ocean, hot spring, tea, temple, special links with Taiwan, Tulou, diverse culture, and Maritime Silk Road heritage. In addition, Fujian is home to ten 5A national tourist attractions, such as Three Lanes and Seven Alleys in Fuzhou, Gulang Islet in Xiamen, Qingyuan Mountain in Quanzhou and Gutian in Shanghang, and eighty-nine 4A national tourist attractions, eighteen national parks, seventeen national nature reserves, fourteen national geoparks, twenty-nine national forest parks, four national forest Cities, one hundred and thirty-nine cultural relics under state protection, four national historical and cultural cities, forty-two national historical and cultural towns or villages, and two hundred and twenty-nine traditional Chinese villages. Taking up 8% of the total landmass of Fujian, these nature reserves, forest parks and tourist attractions create a sound environment for man and nature to live in harmony. “Refreshing Fujian” has become a catchphrase of Fujian and a signature of Beautiful China. 福建省位于中国大陆东南沿海，是中国唯一一个以“福”字命名的省份。福建的森林覆盖率为65.95%，是全国最高的，绿色是福建的主要颜色。海岸线长3752公里，在中国排名第二，温泉资源排名第三。它提供并维持一个高质量的生活环境，具有良好的水、空气和生态条件。

福建旅游资源丰富多彩，名胜古迹众多，可以用三、二、九个数字来概括。“三”是指三处世界遗产，即武夷山（世界自然和文化遗产）、福建土楼（世界文化遗产）和泰宁丹霞景观（世界自然遗产）。二是指宁德和泰宁两个全球地质公园。“九”是指九种独特资源，即生态、海洋、温泉、茶叶、寺庙、与台湾的特殊联系、土楼、多元文化、海上丝绸之路遗产。此外，福建拥有福州三巷七巷、厦门鼓浪屿、泉州清远山、上杭古田等10个5A级国家旅游景区，89个4A级国家旅游景区、18个国家公园、17个国家自然保护区、14个国家地质公园，29个国家森林公园、4个国家森林城市、139处国家保护文物、4个国家历史文化名城、42个国家历史文化村镇、229个中国传统村落。这些自然保护区、森林公园和旅游景点占福建陆地总面积的8%，为人与自然和谐相处创造了良好的环境。“清新福建”已成为福建的流行语和美丽中国的标志。

Fujian not only enjoys picturesque scenery, but also has a profound cultural heritage and a diverse folk culture, which constitutes an important part of traditional Chinese culture.

World Heritage Discovery Route

Fujian is home to three world heritage sites and two global geoparks, offering competitive world-class tourism brands and premium travel routes. The main attractions are Wuyi Mountains, Mount Taimu, Baishuiyang-Yuanyang Creek, Mount Baiyun, Taining Golden Lake, Tulou (Yongding, Nanjing and Hua’an Areas), etc.

Maritime Silk Road Leisure Route

Fujian is an important starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. From the Tang and Song Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties until modern times, the province had been a major participant and witness of the development of the Maritime Silk Road. Attractions along the Route include Mawei Shipbuilding and Naval History Museum, Luoxing Pagoda, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys in Fuzhou, Shipaiyang Rock in Pingtan, stone folk houses, Meizhou Island in Putian, Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou, Quanzhou Maritime Museum, Dehua Porcelain Museum, Dongshan Island, Volcano Island in Zhangpu, and the Moon Port in Zhangzhou.

Tea Culture Route

Fujian is the starting point of the ancient Tea Road. Its written history of tea production was 300 years earlier than that of the Book of Tea. Along the Route you may enjoy Chunlun Tea Culture Park in Fuzhou, White Tea Museum in Fuding, Dahongpao Tea Scenic Area in Wuyi Mountain, Xiamei Ancient Village, live-action performance of Impression of the Dahongpao Tea, Tea Plantation in Anxi, Tianfu Tea Museum in Zhangzhou.

In addition, Fujian offers other select travel routes featuring cozy Xiamen, the Min capital culture, Hakka culture, old revolutionary bases, which includes Gulang Islet in Xiamen, Guling Mountain in Fuzhou, Guanzhai Mountain in Liancheng, Gutian in Longyan, Tingzhou Ancient Town in Changting. 福建不仅风景如画，而且文化底蕴深厚，民俗文化多样，是中国传统文化的重要组成部分。

世界遗产发现路线

福建拥有三处世界遗产和两处世界地质公园，提供具有竞争力的世界级旅游品牌和优质旅游线路。主要景点有武夷山、太姥山、白水阳鸳鸯溪、白云山、泰宁金湖、土楼（永定、南京、华安地区）等。

海上丝绸之路休闲路线

福建是海上丝绸之路的重要起点。从唐宋到明清直至近代，该省一直是海上丝绸之路发展的主要参与者和见证者。沿途景点有马尾造船海军历史博物馆、罗星塔、福州三巷七巷、平潭石牌羊岩、石质民居、莆田梅州岛、泉州洛阳桥、泉州海事博物馆、德化瓷馆、东山岛、漳浦火山岛、，还有漳州的月亮港。

茶文化路线

福建是古茶之路的起点。其茶叶生产的书面历史比《茶经》早300年。沿途可游览福州春伦茶文化园、福鼎白茶博物馆、武夷山大红袍茶景区、霞美古村落、大红袍茶印象真人表演、安溪茶园、漳州天府茶馆。

此外，福建还提供其他精选旅游线路，包括舒适的厦门、闽都文化、客家文化、革命老区，包括厦门的古浪岛、福州的鼓岭山、连城的官寨山、龙岩的古田、长汀的汀州古镇。

Niche Tourism

Industrial Tourism

Fujian takes the lead in China to offer a new way of tourism of factory tours, which includes Gulong Sauce Culture Park in Xiamen, Yongchun Mature Vinegar Museum, Baojiu (a local rice wine) Culture Expo Park in Nanping, and SEPTWOLVES Museum on Men’s Wear.

Village Tourism

Village tourism has become a new form of tourism with the biggest potential for growth in Fujian. The main attractions include Songkou Town in Yongtai County, Peitian Village in Liancheng County, and Weitou Village in Jinjiang City.

Study Tour

Taking advantage of its history, culture and geographical location, Fujian has been working to organize study tours for students from overseas and promote interactions between overseas and local students.

Red Tourism

Being an important part of the Central Soviet Base Area, Fujian now has designed a red tourism development framework encompassing the venue of Gutian Meeting and other red tourism sites in Longtan, Ningde, Sanming and Nanping. The main tourist attractions include the venue of Gutian Meeting and the starting place of the Long March in Zhongfu village, Changting.

Sports Tourism

The Xiamen International Marathon, initiated in 2003, has become a well-known international sports event. Riding activities such as cycling also become popular in Fujian.

Island Tourism

Fujian has numerous islands. Well known at home and abroad are Pingtan International Tourism Island, Gulang Islet, Meizhou Island, Langqi Island and Dongshan Island. Our focus now is on the development of the six uninhabited islands such as Pingtan Dasong islet, Huian Qingyu islet and Fuding Yushan islet.

Festival Tourism

This is characteristic of rich content and bright theme. The main festive activities include Strait Tourism Fair, The Maritime Silk Road (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival, Mazu Culture Festival, Ningde World Geopark Culture Festival, Xiamen Mid-Autumn Tourism Carnival, Xiamen International Marathon, Wuyishan Tea Exposition and Pingtan International Sand Sculpture Festival. 工业旅游

福建率先在中国推出工厂旅游新方式，包括厦门古龙酱文化园、永春陈醋博物馆、南平宝酒文化博览园、七匹狼男装博物馆。

乡村旅游

乡村旅游已成为福建最具发展潜力的新型旅游形式。主要景点包括永泰县松口镇、连城县培田村和晋江市围头村。

游学

福建利用其历史、文化和地理位置，一直致力于为海外学生组织学习旅行，促进海外和本地学生之间的互动。

红色旅游

福建作为中央苏维埃根据地的重要组成部分，目前已经设计了一个红色旅游发展框架，包括古田会议会场以及龙潭、宁德、三明和南平的其他红色旅游景点。主要旅游景点包括古田会议会场和长汀中府村长征起点。

体育旅游

2003年发起的厦门国际马拉松已成为国际知名的体育赛事。骑自行车等骑行活动在福建也很流行。

海岛旅游

福建有许多岛屿。海内外知名的有平潭国际旅游岛、鼓浪屿、湄洲岛、琅岐岛、东山岛等。我们现在的重点是开发平潭大宋岛、惠安青鱼岛、福鼎玉山岛等六个无人岛。

节日旅游

这是内容丰富、主题鲜明的特点。主要节日活动包括海峡旅游博览会、海上丝绸之路（福州）国际旅游节、妈祖文化节、宁德世界地质公园文化节、厦门中秋旅游嘉年华、厦门国际马拉松、武夷山茶博会、平潭国际沙雕节。

Tourism Service

Recent years saw a good development momentum of tourism in Fujian, with the tourist products system being constantly improved and overall receiving capacity substantially increased. The high-speed railway in service in Fujian extends more than 1,500 kilometers long, taking up one-tenth of the national total mileage. And the expressway in service totals 5,000 kilometers long enabling every county(city, district) to have access to expressways within 15-minites’ drive. In Fujian, there are six airports. The Xiamen cruise home port is able to berth luxury cruises with tonnage of 170,000 tons, or 2 to 3 medium or small cruise ships. There are 373 star-rated hotels and 936 travel agencies. In August, 2016, Fujian took the lead in China by making a promise to tourists by providing “Easy Travel” tourism service, making the “Refreshing Fujian” even more famous.

Fujian Cuisine

Fujian cuisine is one of the eight schools of the Chinese cuisine, with Fuzhou cuisine, South Fujian cuisine and West Fujian cuisine offering different cooking techniques and flavors.  Fuzhou cuisine representing the mainstream of Fujian cuisine is characterized by sour and sweet flavor with many soups and a good use of red vinasse. The famous dishes include Buddha Jumps over the Wall, Clams in Chicken Soup and Razor Clams with Red Vinasse. South Fujian cuisine can be found in Xiamen, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou, using Chinese barbeque sauce and wasabi in a special way. Famous dishes of South Fujian cuisine include Eastern Wall Dragon Pearls (Longan fruit with meat fillings) and Red Sturgeon with Eight Treasures. West Fujian Cuisine is popular in areas like Longyan and Sanming. It uses mostly mountain food delicacies as ingredients with a salty and oily flavor. Famous dishes include Braised Quasipaa Spinosa and Hotpot with Nine Parts of Cattle. 近年来，福建旅游业发展势头良好，旅游产品体系不断完善，整体接待能力大幅提升。福建在役高速铁路全长1500多公里，占全国总里程的十分之一。在役高速公路总长5000公里，使每个县（市、区）都能在15分钟的车程内进入高速公路。福建有六个机场。厦门邮轮母港可停靠17万吨级豪华邮轮，或2至3艘中小型邮轮。有373家星级酒店和936家旅行社。2016年8月，福建率先在中国向游客做出承诺，提供“轻松出行”的旅游服务，让“清新福建”更加出名。

闽菜

福建菜是中国八大菜系之一，福州菜、闽南菜和闽西菜提供不同的烹饪技巧和风味。福州菜代表了福建菜的主流，其特点是酸甜苦辣，汤多，红酒糟用得好。著名的菜肴包括佛跳墙、鸡汤蛤蜊和红葡萄酒糟蛤蜊。闽南菜在厦门、泉州和漳州都能找到，用中国烤肉酱和芥末以一种特殊的方式。闽南菜的名菜包括东墙龙珠（龙眼肉馅）和八宝红鲟。闽西菜在龙岩、三明等地很受欢迎。它主要使用山味佳肴作为配料，带有咸和油的味道。著名的菜肴包括炖准木瓜和九分牛火锅。

Tourist Souvenirs

There are a large number of souvenirs making companies in Fujian. And they started early with a wide range of products, many of which are arts and crafts and local specialties unique in China. The Shoushan stone carvings, bodiless lacquerwares, bark sculpture, buffalo horn combs, oiled paper umbrellas, and jasmine tea from Fuzhou, marionette, Tieguanyin tea from Quanzhou, lacquer thread sculptures from Xiamen, Pien Tze Huang from Zhangzhou, White tea from Fuding, Wuyi rock tea from Nanping, bamboo carvings, wood carvings, just to name a few.

福建有大量的纪念品制作公司。他们很早就开始生产各种各样的产品，其中许多是中国特有的工艺美术品和地方特色产品。举几个例子：福州寿山石雕、脱胎漆器、皮雕、水牛角梳、油纸伞、茉莉花茶、泉州木偶、铁观音、厦门漆线、漳州品子黄、福鼎白茶、南平武夷岩茶、竹雕、木雕。
