Ⅰ.Application requirements
Undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students from overseas universities are welcomed to participate in this program. Students can apply for Chinese or professional courses for one semester or longer period case by case in ways of group registration or individual application.
1. Eligibility of a Successful Candidate:
1) be enrolled at their home institution in a degree program at the time of application and for the duration of their studies at Huaqiao University
2) be affordable to cover all of their personal costs of living for the duration of their studies at HQU, including course materials or books, transportation, visa fees, accommodations, medical and health insurance, food, and any other fees or personal living expenses.
3) must meet the admission requirements and accepted by Huaqiao University and the relevant faculty when application is submitted.
Note:*Students from Partner University must first be nominated by their home university. Often, the Partnership Agreement is based on a principle of a reciprocal exchange of students and tuition is waived.Please contact the Study Abroad or International Affairs Office at your home university for more details.
Ⅱ. Application Deadlines
1.For 2023 fall semester: no later than May 30, 2023.
2. For 2024 spring semester: no later than November 30, 2023;
Ⅲ. Application process
1. The application materials should be emailed to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Huaqiao University (xmk@hqu.edu.cn). Students participating in Students exchange program for partnership must be recommended by partner institutions.
2. When your application is accepted, International Office will send you an Acceptance Letter for registration at Huaqiao University and a visa application process. The application review process normally takes about 4 weeks.
Ⅳ. Application materials
1. A digital version of the application form for international exchange students of Huaqiao University (PDF format, Attachment 1);
2. Scanned copy of your Official Transcript issued by home institution (PDF) ;
3. Scanned copy of student status certificate issued by home institution (PDF) ;
4. The scanned copies of valid ID documents, as follows:
(1) Hong Kong, China and Macau, China: Macau resident ID card and "Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents" or "Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents of the People's Republic of China";
(2) Taiwan, China: valid identity certificate of residence in Taiwan and "Taiwan Resident Residence Permit" or "Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents";
(3) Overseas Chinese and international students: passport (photo page/ personal information pages)
The documents above should remain valid for more than one year since the date of registration to Huaqiao University in the current year.
5. Language Certificates (for example, HSK, IELTS or TOEFL);
6. Personal statement (Self-introduction and study plan);
7. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner(Attachment 2)
8. Accident insurance card/document (if applicable).
Note:* Documents must be in English and need to be certified copies of the originals. Documents that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
Ⅴ. Calendar
2022 Fall semester: September 4, 2023 to January 5, 2024;
2023 Spring semester: February 26, 2024 to June 28, 2024.

Chinese language related faculties: For exchange students who are about to studying Chinese, Chinese Language and Culture College and Preparatory Education College offer Chinese language and culture learning varying language competence.

Preparatory Education College’s main courses include Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Character Writing, Spoken Chinese, Science/Technology Chinese, etc. The first semester features intensive language study. In the second semester, students can also choose Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other courses.
Other faculties: Exchange students will study in the corresponding faculties and be arranged to related grades according to their schooling background. International School is an English-medium instruction institution including three approaches, Finance, International Business and Financial Management.
Exchange students are not allowed to change their majors after being admitted.
Ⅶ. Exchange Certificate
Huaqiao University will provide the official transcript to exchange students who have completed their schooling.
